For this sixth day of mobilization against the pension reform that is now being examined in the Senate, the inter-union intends to move from words to action to achieve a dark day, a “paralyzed France”.
“There is a consensus among us to say that the goal is to do better than January 31,” Yvan Ricordeau, CFDT national secretary, told AFP. That day, the unions had counted more than 2.5 million protesters and the authorities 1.27 million.
Many sectors have filed notices for some, this is the first, they are renewable. For this March 7, the government therefore expects a “hard” day that could be the first in a long series.
• SNCF, RATP: towards a massive and renewable strike
The four representative unions of the SNCF have agreed to toughen the movement with the prospect of a very strong mobilization starting on March 6 at 7:00 p.m., as the first day of action of the unions where most of the trains had been cancelled.
On BFMTV, Didier Mathis (UNSA Ferroviaire) recalled that the reform project is “unacceptable”.
Above all, after consulting their bases, the unions called for the first time a renewable strike. As of March 8, the general assemblies will decide every afternoon at 6:00 p.m. on the continuation of the movement.
Same tone as the RATP unions. “Despite the rejection of a large majority of the population, the government continues to be blocked in its brutal, unfair and unjustified reform,” writes the inter-union in a press release.
The strike in the Paris metro will begin on March 7 and will also be renewable. Objective: find the mobilization of January 19 when the traffic was almost stopped.
The strike could also be followed in the transport networks of other metropolises such as Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse, Montpellier…
Remember that accurate outage forecasts are generally communicated 48 hours in advance of the day of the strike.
According to information from bfm tv, the main unions have called for a massive mobilization to “totally close schools, colleges [et] high schools” on Tuesday, March 7.
On the other hand, there is currently no renewable strike call. Some establishments among the most mobilized could decide to go on strike despite everything, but they will continue to be localized actions.
The inter-union also called on the staff “to mobilize on March 8, the international day of struggle for women’s rights, to denounce the great social injustice of this pension reform against women.”
• Energy: reductions in production or even specific cuts
“We are ready for France to stop,” the CGT Energía assured AFP at the beginning of February.
Since the beginning of the movement, the CGT has carried out production cuts (which have not translated into cuts to individuals) and selective cuts, directed in particular at the positions of elected representatives of the majority.
The stoppage could also affect plant maintenance teams, which could accentuate the drop in electricity production. On February 28, 38 of the 56 nuclear reactors are operational.
• Refineries/chemicals: the risk of gasoline shortages
The Chemistry of the CGT calls a strike of renewables from March 6 in its sector. “Then refining, the petrochemical industry, the pharmaceutical industry, rubber, plastics processing are included,” Éric Sellini, coordinator of the CGT of the TotalEnergies group, told AFP.
Unlike other strike days, the possibility of a renewal raises the risk of fuel shortages with refineries closing and the inability to get tankers out.
• Garbage collectors join the movement
The CGT calls a renewable strike from March 7 (the central union is the majority in Paris). All employees, from waste collectors to sorters, are concerned.
The collection and sorting sector is shared between the public service, managed by local authorities, which depend on the federation of public services, and the private sector (companies such as Veolia, Derichebourg and Nicollin), whose workers are organized by the federation Of transport.
“It is our contribution, our participation in the inter-union call for the blockade of the economy,” François Livartowski, federal secretary of the CGT-public services, told AFP.
• The CGT calls the platform distributors to strike
The CGT Transportes, the second union among the distributors, called on these professionals to stop on March 7. But it is difficult to know to what extent this movement will continue.
