The recommended price rises above the 5% agreed by the Government

Medical procedures performed by government employees in hospitals or private clinics under the ADSE regime, the state health subsystem, increased by more than 5%, contrary to what was unanimously approved by the General Council and the Board of Trustees, which includes the government and trade unions. The new tables came into effect yesterday and show increases as high as 63% in oncology, 52% in obstetrics or 29% in paediatrics, according to calculations by Dinheiro Vivo.

The “inflation rise” that reached 7.8% last year, and the “pressure from private healthcare providers” led the General Council and the Supervisory Board (CGS), ADSE’s monitoring and consultation body, to “unanimously approve an update”. approve”. of the tables by 5%,” explains Dinheiro Vivo, the president of the CGS, Maria Helena Rodrigues.

But the new prices show much higher increases, which has provoked opposition from unions representing state workers. The general secretary of the Federation of Public Administration Trade Unions and Entities with Public Purposes (Fesap), José Abraão, stated to the DV that “what was proposed and approved was the recognition of the need for an increase of 5% and not more than that it”. The union leader confesses that “Fesap was surprised with the tables”, especially when “he had already asked to consult the new list before it was made public”, which never happened. For this reason, at the next meeting of the General Council and the Supervisory Board, scheduled for Monday, March 6, José Abraão will “request clarification” from the management of that advisory body on “the reason for the increases above 5%” which was announced. awake.

If we compare the previous tables with the current ones, there are more substantive aggravations in medical specialties. For example, a multidisciplinary oncology consultation that previously cost 19.95 euros for the user rose from 12.47 euros to 32.42 euros, an increase of almost 63%. On the ADSE side, the contribution increases by EUR 45.23, from EUR 72.35 to EUR 117.58 for the same medical act, also an increase of 63%.

There are several other consultations whose bill increases by 52% or 2.6 euros, from 5 to 7.6 euros: this is the case for obstetrics, gynaecology, psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, rheumatology or dermatovenerology (medical-surgical specialty which focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the skin, hair, nails, as well as diseases of the mucous membranes and sexually transmitted diseases). In these cases, the costs for ADSE are increased by EUR 10.4 to EUR 30.4, while previously these costs were EUR 20 per action.

Pediatric consultations will weigh another two euros in officials’ pockets, rising by 52% from €7 to €9. For ADSE, the costs will increase by eight euros to 36 euros, where previously the contribution was 28 euros.

In clinical analyzes there are also increases greater than the 5% agreed in a meeting of the General Council and the Supervisory Board, as is the case with the total cholesterol test, which increases by 20%, although in real terms the increase for the user is negligible six cents to 0.36 euros.

For most other medical procedures such as analyses, GP consultations, deliveries, hospital admissions or operations, the increases are around 5%. There are also consultations that have not deteriorated, such as psychology and nutrition.
