The German airline Lufthansa has signed an agreement with Airbus for the purchase of ten Airbus A350-1000 and five A350-900, the aircraft manufacturer announced in a statement on Thursday.
The purchase of 15 long-haul widebody aircraft will bring Lufthansa’s A350 fleet to 60 aircraft, Airbus said, “in the world”, the largest version of this model.
Contract amount kept secret
This aircraft “consumes significantly less fuel than previous generation aircraft and therefore generates fewer emissions,” Airbus said in its press release.
The amount of the contract was not disclosed. Airbus and Lufthansa have also signed an agreement “to strengthen their cooperation in the field of sustainable development and future technologies” with the key to developing the use of sustainable aviation fuel and exploring the path leading to hydrogen.
