Pension reform: meeting between unions and left-wing senators scheduled for Friday

INFO BFMTV – The leaders of the communist, environmental and socialist senators will discuss with the unions this Friday afternoon. Several union leaders will be present, including Philippe Martínez, general secretary of the CGT.

At the initiative of environmentalists, an exchange between leftist senators and the inter-union is expected this Friday at 3:30 p.m., according to information from BFMTV. The CGT will participate in this meeting, represented by its general secretary Philippe Martínez, but also officials from UNSA, CFE-CGC, Solidaires, FO, CFDT, FIDL or even Unef.

On the political side, Patrick Kanner, Guillaume Gontard and Éliane Assassi, leaders of the socialist, environmentalist and communist senators, respectively, will be present. Like Marine Tondelier, the national secretary of Europe Ecology – The Greens.

“Abandon the pension reform project”

The left-wing senators have a “tacit agreement” with their counterparts in the Luxembourg Palace that article 7 of the pension reform -which sets the postponement of the legal retirement age at 64, compared to the current 62- not be studied before the next union intermobilization, scheduled for March 7.

That day, the unions threaten to shut down France. On this occasion, it will be important to “show our determination at the national level” to “set aside the pension reform project,” Philippe Martínez explained Thursday.
