Inflation: Gabriel Attal asks retailers to “make an effort on their margins”

Questioned at the Salon de l’Agriculture, the Delegate Minister for Public Accounts promised “one end of the tunnel” and called for “collective action” in the face of rising prices.

While some observers predict that the peak of inflation will be reached in the middle of this year, Gabriel Attal affirmed this Saturday at the Salon de l’Agriculture that “there will be an end of the tunnel”.

The delegated Minister of Public Accounts stresses that “the State has come a long way with the tariff shield on electricity and gas prices. We have put 600 million euros to reduce the cost of animal feed, now there has to be collective action”.

“The issue is the reception of the French”

“I have not seen a single farmer or producer who said that he was getting fed up with fabulous margins and therefore it is in the entire chain where action must be taken. I appeal to the distribution to make an effort on their margins, to the big manufacturers: the issue is the reception of the French”, insists Gabriel Attal.

It remains to be seen whether or not the famous anti-inflation basket promised by the government to relieve the most modest households is finally launched. And the minister does not have a clear answer.

“Whatever the device, whether it is cost prices, blocked prices, promotional discounts, a basket, what matters is the receipt at the end for the French and my concern is French workers and the middle class”, explains Gabriel Attal.
