In the oil refineries, where the CGT is in a position of strength, the strike on March 7 should be very frequent and, above all, renewable. This raises the risk of fuel shortages with the closure of refineries and the inability to get tankers out, as in October.
Within these refineries, management is trying to limit the damage. BFMTV has thus obtained an internal video in which the head of the Normandy refinery can be heard trying to dissuade his employees from going on strike next week.
“Our platform should not suffer disproportionate consequences in response to a national political debate,” explains David Marion. “Good availability of our facilities is necessary to justify the future investments that the platform needs, such as the energy transition. We all have a role to play”, warns the manager.
“Revealing a Feeling of Fear”
“That is why today I call for your responsibility to preserve our industrial tool that generates a lot of work and pride. I’m counting on you, ”he continues.
An initiative (and a form of pressure) that is not to the liking of the unions. Asked by BFMTV, Alexis Antonioli, CGT Total Normandy delegate, believes that “Total management will use” all means “to limit the consequences of the strike.
“For us it is indicative of a feeling of fear. For us it is an attack that is part of the repressive battery of the bosses and the government”, adds the delegate.
And according to information from BFMTV, this video message strategy directed at employees is duplicated in other refineries, such as Feyzin. But since its publication, the video would have been deleted from the networks, preferring the head of the site to go directly to meet the employees to encourage them to give up the strike.
