WTO: South Korea announces end of complaint over Japanese export restrictions

The South Korean Ministry of Commerce said in a statement that the two governments have “decided to carry out early bilateral consultations” in order to “return to the situation prior to July 2019.”

South Korea announced on Monday that it was ending its complaint to the World Trade Organization (WTO) over restrictions on the export of certain Japanese products, pending bilateral talks to resolve old disputes.

“The two governments have decided to immediately hold bilateral consultations related to the current export regulation issues in order to return to the situation before July 2019,” South Korea’s Ministry of Commerce said in a statement.
