Satisfied flight crew points to “lack of transparency” of the whole process

The president of the National Union of Civil Aviation Flight Personnel (SNPVAC) welcomed this Tuesday with the result of the report of the General Inspectorate of Finance and said he hoped Luís Rodrigues could bring social peace to the TAP group.

On Monday, the ministers of Finance and Infrastructure announced the outline of the conclusions of the audit of the Inspectorate General of Finance (IGF) at TAP and the exemption of the chairman of the Board of Directors and the executive chairman of the company, who will be replaced by Luís Silva Rodrigues, who currently leads Sata.

The IGF has concluded that the agreement signed for Alexandra Reis’ departure from TAP is null and void, the government said, which will seek a refund of the fee.

Ricardo Penarroias told the Lusa agency on Tuesday that the whole process was “badly done” from the start, tarnishing the company’s image.

“What’s important to hold onto here is the lack of transparency in this process. All the attempts to camouflage this process. It’s just another episode of the last two years this company has been through, from board integration, the purchase of cars fleets, ‘ubers’ vouchers, cargo plane decisions stopped on the board, aircraft ‘leasing.’ All this is shrouded in great controversy, Alexandra Reis is yet another episode that happened because of a lack of transparency, “he underlined.

According to SNPVAC’s president, the investigation puts the blame on the CEO and chairman, who he says should have assumed error and left voluntarily.

“I don’t assume that in my opinion they have tarnished the image of the company because it was associated with a situation that was not very transparent, not very clear. For us it is not a question of value and after almost six months we managed to figure out that Alexandra Reis had finally received an installment and not the totality. The union leadership asked several times how the compensation had come about and no one responded, it took the investigation to clear up this doubt, “he said.

For Ricardo Penarroias, the damage has already been done, the image of the company has been damaged and the image of the CEO has been damaged.

Regarding the nomination of Luís Silva Rodrigues, who currently heads Sata, to assume the positions of chairman of TAP’s board of directors and executive committee, SNPVAC’s president said it was “right.”

“It seems right to me. He is someone who knows the market well, knows the industry well. He knows the company and the culture. I am satisfied, but not euphoric because there is an Excel sheet, a restructuring plan, which the whole people don’t know it, but it must be fulfilled,” he said.

Ricardo Penarroias emphasized the “excellent work” of SATA’s management with the contribution of workers and the important role of trade unions.

“I hope that Luís Rodrigues brings us the social peace that has long disappeared in the TAP group. That he can restore that confidence and that he knows how to enter into dialogue and that the company succeeds in consolidating itself in the market.” he said.
