Imbalance between supply and demand, price of kerosene…
The causes of this double-digit inflation are multiple. Firstly, there is the supply of companies that, due to a lack of sufficient staff, are still struggling to cope with the strong demand from customers who want to resume their travel habits after the Covid period.
Added to this is the rise in the price of kerosene after oil since the start of the war in Ukraine. An increase that is difficult to absorb without passing it on to the price of the ticket, knowing that kerosene represents between 30 and 45% of the price of the latter depending on the duration of the flight.
Finally, the increase in ticket prices also responds to the need for companies to “restore their accounts and increase their margins” after the difficult years of Covid, explained Bruno Gazeau, president of the National Federation of User Associations. of Transport (Fnaut).
