The airline Vueling will compensate more than 350 passengers affected in 2018 and 2019 for canceled or delayed flights, and will simplify these procedures in the future, the consumer defense association UFC-Que Choisir announced on Monday.
“UFC-Que Choisir and Vueling Airlines have reached an agreement” after an appeal by the association, “supporting the claims of passengers who do not obtain the payment of the compensation provided for by community legislation”, at-ella has pointed out in a release.
In fact, European regulations have provided since 2005, and except in cases of force majeure, that airlines compensate passengers traveling through Europe whose flights are canceled or delayed for more than three hours. There are also provisions for travelers who are victims of overbooking.
New complaint attention channel
“Following the commitments [de] the company, more than 350 consumers will thus obtain the payment of their compensation provided for by community regulation 261/04 for flights in 2018 and 2019”, according to UFC-Que Choisir.
In addition, to prevent in the future “the difficulties encountered by both the airline and the passengers, UFC-Que Choisir and Vueling Airlines have agreed to enable a specific and simplified channel for the processing of future claims that will be presented through the association on behalf of the passengers”, according to the same source.
Contacted by AFP on Monday morning for a possible reaction, Vueling spokesmen in France did not immediately respond. Founded in 2004 in Spain and focused on “low-cost”, Vueling is a member of the IAG group, along with British Airways and Iberia in particular.
