Fuel Compensation: 6.5 million claims filed

According to Bercy, 6.5 million people have applied for the 100-euro fuel subsidy. But not all requests can be satisfied.

Many called and few chose to obtain the 100-euro fuel subsidy to help households that have no choice but to use a motor vehicle (car or motorcycle) to go to work.

This “post refund” is available until the end of the month, and 6.5 million applications have been filed to date, out of the 10 million people who are eligible to pay taxes according to Bercy estimates. Not all requests will be attended to and also, to date, the Ministry of Finance does not say how many compensations have been paid, nor how many requests have already been rejected.

No job in 2021, no help

Once the applications are submitted, the administrative services must verify the information provided and continue to correct the errors of the software that processes them. For example, owners of vehicles with old license plates could not apply because their number was not recognized. Many applicants have also raised concerns about other problems with RIBs (bank details) and insurance certificates. These errors would be in the process of being resolved.

The most common denials are based on tax eligibility. Many people have had their application denied for a surprising reason. To obtain this aid of 100 euros, you must send the 2022 tax notice related to the 2021 income.

Those who did not work that year and, in fact, therefore did not use a vehicle to get to a place of work, cannot get the subsidy, even if they have found a job since then. This criterion is as important as that of a tax base of less than or equal to 14,700 euros per year,

Bercy has set up a toll-free number (0 806 000 229) to answer applicants’ questions, help them apply, tell them they are not eligible and inform them about the progress of their file. It takes about ten days from the submission of an application to find out if the file has finally been accepted.
