An “unfair and brutal” reform. On the morning of the eighth day of the mobilization, but also of the celebration of the joint joint commission, Laurent Berger reaffirmed his opposition to the pension reform.
“We are not talking about a political object, we are talking about a social object, a reality of the world of work that rejects this reform because it has concrete consequences in the lives of each and every one at work,” said Laurent Berger.
“Omitted parliamentary procedure”
For the union leader, the bill is rejected “massively” by the French, as illustrated by the “largest demonstrations organized in the streets […] since the early 1990s.” The Ministry of the Interior had counted 1.28 million protesters throughout the country on March 7, while the CGT had counted 3.5 million people.
In addition, this reform “is the subject of an eluded parliamentary procedure,” lamented Laurent Berger. There was “no vote in the Assembly” and an “acceleration” of the debates in the Senate, “a forum that is usually imbued with serenity,” he continued.
