This is the first in defense. Just two days after the incident, the Pentagon declassified a video showing excerpts from the interception of the US surveillance drone by Russian fighter jets in the Black Sea. Since then, these images have been collected on networks around the world.
The US military claims the drone fell into the sea after being damaged by a Russian plane. For its part, Moscow denounced a provocation, assuring that the US plane was damaged after its own “sudden” maneuvers and that the Russian planes did not hit it.
In this approximately 40-second video, the Sukhoi-27 can be seen approaching the MQ-9 Reaper drone and releasing fuel to blind it. The transmission of the images was then interrupted, a consequence according to the Pentagon of the collision with the Russian combat plane. The film ends with footage of a damaged propeller, which rendered the drone inoperable.
