TotalEnergies says it is “strengthening” its goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2025

The oil group wants to reduce the emissions generated by the fuels and kerosene burned by its customers by 30% by 2025 compared to 2015.

The TotalEnergies group announced on Tuesday the reinforcement of its short-term objectives for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions linked to oil derivatives, while its participation in its activities decreases in favor of gas and renewable energies.

TotalEnergies “has set a more ambitious goal to reduce scope 3 oil emissions”, that is, the emissions generated by fuels and kerosene burned by its customers, with a 30% reduction expected in 2025 compared to 2015 These emissions now represent the largest part of the group’s carbon footprint, followed by those related to gas.
