3.5 million people demonstrated across France on Thursday, according to CGT figures, as many as the record mobilization on March 7. The authorities announce for their part 1,089 million people on the streets throughout the country.
Record mobilization in Paris
The union announced today that 800,000 people marched in the Paris procession. The police headquarters announces 119,000 demonstrators in the capital.
These two figures show that the mobilization broke a record in Paris and is higher than the eighth day of mobilization on March 15, when 480,000 people took to the streets in France, according to Place Beauvau. According to the count of the firm Occurrence carried out for a group of media, including AFP, 83,000 people demonstrated in Paris.
Clashes in Paris and Western France
The tensions clouded the mobilization in several cities. The police station, which has identified “close to a thousand” radical elements in the capital, reported 26 arrests at 6:00 p.m. Also in Nantes and Rennes, clashes pitted protesters against police, who used tear gas and water cannons. In Lorient, in Morbihan, the police station was attacked. More or less strong tensions were also observed in Toulouse, Lille, Bordeaux or Dijon.
According to a police source, at 7:00 p.m., more than a hundred police officers were injured in France, not counting Paris.
