The end of the systematic printing of receipts, scheduled for April 1, has been postponed again due to inflation, the Ministry of Economy and Finance reported this Sunday, confirming press information. Initially scheduled to start on January 1, 2023, this measure had already been postponed to April 1. “We believe that the time is not right for the measure to enter into force,” said the cabinet of Olivia Grégoire, minister delegate in particular for Commerce, in the Sunday edition of Parisina, after information published in Free lunch.
August 1 or September 1
According to Bercy, a new date should be announced early next week. Two dates are being discussed, says the Parisian, August 1 and September 1. “Our preference is August 1,” Olivia Grégoire’s ministry was quoted as saying by the newspaper, because “in September it is the time for back-to-school shopping, it risks being even more disruptive.”
The “anti-waste and circular economy” law, voted in 2020, provided for the completion of receipt printing at the end of a commercial transaction, unless expressly requested by the customer, with the aim of reducing waste generation. But since this law, high inflation, particularly in supermarket prices, has caused consumers to consult the receipt more frequently.
