Two weeks after the promise to send MiG-29 to Ukraine, Andrzej Duda, President of Poland, confirms the delivery of a first series of combat aircraft.
Poland has about fifteen MiGs, inherited in the 1990s from the armed forces of the German Democratic Republic, GDR.

Since the Warsaw announcement, Slovakia had announced that it had delivered the first four such aircraft to Ukraine on March 23. In total, Bratislava had promised kyiv 13 MiG-29s, of Soviet design.
Ukraine recently refused to confirm to AFP the number of its MiG-29s in service, but according to a Flight Global World Air Forces 2023 report published late last year, the country operated 43 aircraft.
kyiv has repeatedly called on its Western allies to send it modern fighter-bombers, hoping to get American F-16s.
