France’s trade deficit in goods continued to narrow in February, falling to 11 billion euros, thanks in particular to a decline in the energy bill, customs said on Friday.

The January trade deficit was revised sharply lower compared to previous estimates, to 12.3 billion euros instead of 13.6 billion, already beginning a pause after a record year of 2022 with a record deficit of 164 billion euros. Imports were 63.6 billion euros and exports 50 billion euros, the customs office said.

Cumulatively for 12 consecutive months, France’s trade deficit, which had reached an all-time high of €164 billion in 2022, continues to deteriorate to €169.2 billion.
