Several agreements and contracts were signed or discussed during French President Emmanuel Macron’s state visit to China, accompanied by many business leaders, which ends on Friday.
• Airbus
It is undoubtedly the most important. In fact, the aircraft manufacturer has announced installation a second final assembly line for its A320 and A321 single-aisle aircraft at its Tianjin (north) site.
It should enter service in the second half of 2025. Airbus has already had one since 2008.
By doubling its aircraft production capacity on Chinese soil, the manufacturer is closing in on the colossal demand for new planes from Chinese airlines. Which allows you to distance yourself a little more from your Boeing competitor.
At the same time, it will allow Airbus to accelerate its international deliveries (7,300 expected this year) as the manufacturer faced difficulties in its supply chain in 2022.
At the same time, a contract was signed for the purchase of 160 Airbus aircraft by several Chinese airlines already on their order books.
• FED
The energy group and Chinese nuclear giant CGN have renewed their global partnership agreement, in force since 2007. It covers the design, construction and operation of nuclear power plants.
This agreement notably enabled EDF to build with CGN the only EPR facility currently in service in the world, in Taishan, in southern China.
EDF has also signed cooperation agreements with the electricity companies CHN Energy and SPIC for an offshore wind project and a stake in an existing piece of land.
• CMA-CGM
In the field of maritime transport, the Marseille giant CMA-CGM, world number three, signed an agreement with Cosco, the Chinese number one, and the port of Shanghai for the supply of biomethanol and e-methanol. Objective: the decarbonization of the maritime sector in China.
• Suez
The water and waste management specialist has won a contract through the Wanhua Chemical consortium for a seawater desalination project, the amount of which has not been specified.
• GTT
Engineering firm Gaztransport and Technigaz has partnered with PipeChina on membrane liquefied natural gas (LNG) tank technology to manufacture storage tanks.
• The real
The world number one in cosmetics has sealed a three-year alliance with Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba on the “sustainable consumption” of cosmetics.
L’Oréal has also reached an agreement with the Shanghai Oriental Beauty Valley consortium to develop an incubation platform in Shanghai open to French cosmetics start-ups and SMEs so that they can develop their activity in the Chinese market.
• Pig industry
The French sector has obtained 15 new authorizations from the Chinese authorities for more exports to China. Pork is by far the most consumed meat in this country.
