The Senate launched this Monday on its website a consultation open to all on the low emission zones (ZFE), where the circulation of the most polluting vehicles is gradually prohibited. The generalization in France of these zones is foreseen by law for 2025 in the 43 agglomerations of more than 150,000 inhabitants.
To date, eleven metropolises, the first of which were Lyon, Grenoble and Paris, have developed their ZFEs with different schedules. But cities face the difficulty of the social acceptability of this provision, due to the costs of vehicle replacement. The Greater Paris metropolis has just announced a further postponement of the third stage of its ZFE, which will affect cars displaying a Crit’air 3 sticker, after Crit’air 5 and 4.
Conclusions expected in June
The Senate, for its part, installed an information mission on the acceptability of the ZFEs, which should deliver its conclusions in June. To refine his analysis and “better identify the difficulties” encountered by individuals and professionals, he offers an online questionnaire.
Among the questions asked: “Are you in favor of the establishment of ZFI?”; “Do you plan to change the vehicles in favor of a clean vehicle due to the implementation of the ZFE?”; “Do you know the possible economic aid for the acquisition of a clean vehicle?”. The consultation is open until May 14.
