In 2027, 23% of jobs will be different, a revolution that will lead to the creation of 69 million jobs and the disappearance of 83 million jobs at the same time, according to a report published by the World Economic Forum on Sunday.
The document, which focuses on the future of the world of work, indicates that the difference points to a reduction of 14 million jobs, equivalent to 2% of current employment.
The analysis is based on responses from more than 800 companies surveyed, which showed that employment in the near future will be driven by the environmental transition, environmental, social and governance standards and the location of supply chains.
In addition, the application of advanced technologies and digitalisation will have a strong influence and positive effect on job creation.
The companies surveyed did not hesitate to point out that the biggest job creator will be digital commerce: at least two million new jobs.
Big data management (“big data”) is the industry that ranks first among job creators such as data analysts, data scientists, and big data specialists.
Similarly, at least 30% more AI robot learning specialists and cybersecurity experts will be needed.
In this regard, the Executive Director of the Davos Economic Forum, Saadia Zahidi, noted that the advancement of artificial intelligence and other technologies will increase the uncertainties that had already arisen due to the pandemic and the economic and geopolitical crises.
The companies surveyed by the MOB indicate that they will give priority in the coming years to training their employees in the use of artificial intelligence and macro data.
On the losing side will be clerical jobs, among which cashiers and computer data entry clerks will be most affected the fastest.
According to the report, automated tasks today are about the same as they were three years ago. In total, 34% of tasks are automated, only 1% more than in 2020.
In absolute terms, the main increase in jobs will be recorded in the education and agriculture sectors, although education plays a central role in the opportunities created.
The study estimates that 44% of each worker’s skills need updating.
