The general secretary of the CGT called on the Government to “let the deputies vote” on the bill that seeks to repeal the pension reform on June 8. Sophie Binet also told BFMTV that the government was “in a panic” trying to “multiply maneuver” to avoid a vote in the National Assembly.
This text is brought to the National Assembly by the group of LIOT deputies (Freedoms, Independents, Overseas and Territories) and supported by the other deputies opposed to the pension reform, within the NUPES and the RN group. Some LR deputies also say they are ready to vote for such a repeal.
Preventing the vote would be “extremely serious”
However, the presidential majority seeks to prevent such a vote using article 40 of the Constitution, which establishes that the texts of the laws approved by Parliament “are not admissible when their adoption results in a reduction of public resources or in the creation of or aggravation of a public office”. Prime Minister Elisabeth Bornea in this capacity called the bill “unconstitutional” this Friday.
In case of approval by the deputies, it is unlikely, however, that the text will be approved in the Senate, where the right-wing majority voted in favor of the reform project after the application of article 49.3 in the Assembly.
