French industrial production rose in April, data released by INSEE on Friday shows. Production in the French industry as a whole increased by 0.8% after a fall of 1.1% in March. Economists surveyed on average expected industrial production to fall 0.3%.
In detail, production rebounded strongly in coking-refining (+23.6% compared to -45.2% in March), having decreased the intensity of the strikes compared to the previous month. Extractive industries, energy, water (+1.8%), transport material (+2.0%) and capital goods (+1.4%) also increased, but automobiles fell (-1.8%) and the agri-food industries (-0.3%).
