Strike in the civil service with compliance between 55% and 60% and impact on health and schools

The strike taking place this Wednesday in the civil service, called by the National Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Public Administration (fesinap), had a membership of between 55% and 60% and a greater impact on the health and school sectors, lasting up to 12 hours this Wednesday.

According to an update sent to Lusa by the union structure, the strike, which began at 12 a.m. this Wednesday and ended at midnight on Friday, had membership hovering between “55% and 60%” until 12 a.m. %, with a greater impact on the health sector and schools”.

Fesinap called for a national strike and demanded wage increases and the introduction of the daily meal card of 9.60 euros.

According to the strike notice the interruption started this Wednesday (7) and lasts until Friday (9), between 00:00 and 24:00, and concerns employees associated with a public employment regime or a common employment regime .

In a statement, Fesinap clarified that the strike is nationwide and affects “all public administration employees”, including employees of public business entity (EPE) hospitals.

Among the demands are salary updates, to cope with the increase in the cost of living and the establishment of the meal card in the public administration, through collective bargaining, for the daily value of 9.60 euros.

“The government cannot continue to treat workers with ‘handouts’, when all careers have to be reviewed from head to toe, starting with indexation of wages based on the functions actually performed by the workers and not on the basis of the category they occupy,” defends the trade union federation.
