After having climbed to 38 euros at the end of the first confinement, the daily ceiling for the use of “rest tickets” or other “restaurant passes” provided by the employers had dropped to 19 euros last June, its level before the health crisis.
Meal vouchers can be used to pay all or part of the bill when eating in a restaurant, but also to buy lunch at stores such as bakeries, caterers, deli or greengrocers (but restaurants and merchants are not required to accept them ). This means of payment can also be used in supermarkets to buy food or prepare meals.

Another recent measure: from August 18 to December 31, 2023, food vouchers can be used to pay for food purchases at the supermarket. Until now, it was only possible to pay for purchases of food products for direct consumption such as salads or fruits, sandwiches, dairy products or even prepared dishes; each brand establishing its own list of eligible products.
Of course, be careful: the use of restaurant vouchers is limited to working days of the week, that is, outside the weekend and holidays, unless you work those days; this restriction will be valid for the purchase of food, said the minister. In addition, it is also limited to the department in which you work and neighboring departments, unless you are traveling on business.
