There are a lot of questions around Will Smith the new film by Emancipation, which will launch on Apple TV +. The film was one of many Projects of actors who have suffered setbacks. Follow him slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars in March, so its release date is unknown. He was also thought to be a contender for the prize, but that too got complicated after the Smith smack incident. Will Smith stars in the action thriller as Peter, a slave who escapes his Louisiana plantation and joins the Union Army to fight his former captors. Emancipation it is based on the true story of Gordon, or “Peter Whipped”, who was the subject of photos published in 1863 showing numerous scars on his back from being mistreated as a slave. Emancipation it’s a big departure from Will Smith’s usual job, as the actor said avoided making slavery movies throughout his career. Angela Rye, a social justice advocate and political commentator, seems to approve of taking on her role, as she credits Smith and director Antoine Fuqua with the credit for telling this “powerful” story:

Although Apple wins the great bidding war Publication Emancipation on her streaming service, Amber Takahashi hopes the film will have some sort of theatrical release:

Attendees at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation event certainly appear to have been shaken by the film’s private screening and hopefully a release date will arrive soon. As for how things are going for the rewards Emancipationit got complicated when Will Smith voluntarily resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences after the fallout from the Oscars. The actor is too forbidden to participate in the Oscars 10 years ceremony.
