“I see you”: Eddy de Pretto thanks those who support him in his trial for cyberbullying

In total, seventeen people are prosecuted for having sent hate messages to the singer, after his performance at the Saint-Eustache church in June 2021. For six of them, the homophobic character was maintained during the investigation carried out by the Central Office of Fight Crimes Against Humanity and Hate Crimes.

“I am not speaking at this time to do all justice. But I would still like to thank you for the thousands of messages of support I receive every minute. I see them”, tweeted the interpreter of party too much this Thursday.

3,000 hate messages

On June 24, 2021, Eddy de Pretto filed a complaint at the Paris 18th district police station after receiving multiple messages of insults and threats on his Instagram account. Hateful and homophobic messages.

A few days earlier, the artist performed at a concert at the Saint-Eustache church, scheduled by the parish priest. He performs three songs, including So that?title in which he evokes the difficulty of reconciling religion and homosexuality and which contains the term “sodomite”.

Eddy de Pretto recounts his performance in a story on his Instagram account. After this publication, the artist claims to have received a total of 3,000 hate messages.

“Do you want to sing sodom in a church? Don’t worry, put on your balls and do the same (sic) in a mosque”, “Fuck your mother”, “Die in hell dirty dog ​​and it’s only a matter of time”, netizens had written in particular according to screenshots posted on the singer’s Instagram account.

Since then, the National Pole for the Fight against Online Hate (PLNH) of the Paris Prosecutor’s Office had opened an investigation and a psychiatric expert opinion had been requested. In particular, it determined that the 29-year-old had suffered from sleep disorders ever since, and had to move and be accompanied by a bodyguard, fearing an attack.
