The search for Daniel Craig’s James Bond replacement has yet to begin, but fans have named several actors, including Tom Hardy and Idris Elba, who theorize who might be next. Although there are new rumors that producers are looking for someone in their thirties to take on the role. Some favorites may be out of the running now. But looking for a younger Bond may not be what it seems. A 007 producer explained that Craig’s James Bond replacement may not be too young.
The latest development in bond hunting came courtesy of a panel celebrating 60 years of the Connection franchising. Connection producer Michael G. Wilson revealed to Terme that casting for a new 007 has yet to begin despite speculation to the contrary. The film producer could have cooled Eon Films’ talk of looking for a younger Bond to take over the franchise. Even though it looked like actors over 30 were still in the running, Wilson said those under 30 shouldn’t bother auditioning to play the international spy.
We have tried to focus on young people in the past. But trying to visualize it doesn’t work. Remember, Bond is already a veteran. He has some experience. He is a person who has lived through wars, so to speak. He probably he was in the SAS or something. He’s not a high school kid that you can just grow up and start with. That’s why he works for a thirty year old.
Well, that leaves Regé-Jean Page, Aidan Turner, James Norton and Richard Madden still in contention. Wilson apparently disappointed Tom Holland’s hopes in Bond despite him posing as a young Bond. As the producer said, the mild-mannered spy is a man weary of words who has lived a life full of stories. An actor in their twenties or teens may not have the experience to be successful. This would disconnect the actor from the character. But there’s still an arduous quest ahead of them, as manufacturers face their biggest challenge: reinventing the beloved spy.
As the search for Craig’s replacement continues, fans have wondered if the MI6 family will remain available to make way for the new James Bond.
