The world of French culture is organizing to help Morocco, affected by a deadly earthquake on the night of Friday to Saturday. The presenter Arthur announces this Sunday the filming of a clip in which numerous personalities will participate.
“Starting tomorrow we are going to start filming a music video with many artists and celebrities,” he declared on TF1. “Jamel (Debbouze, editor’s note) took his phone, everyone took his phone.”
“Moral and financial support”
The 57-year-old presenter, born in Casablanca, does not give any further information about the content of the clip or the faces that viewers will find there. However, he specifies that it will be broadcast “everywhere, on social networks and, especially, on television channels.”
“The urgency is to provide moral support to the Moroccan population, to tell them that we are there,” Arthur continues. “And then financial support so they can rebuild.”
Outpouring of solidarity
Many personalities have expressed their emotion after this powerful earthquake, whose provisional toll now amounts to at least 2,012 dead and 2,059 injured, of which 1,404 are in very serious condition.
“Let us all help and make our contribution to help Morocco and pray that lives are saved in the hours and days to come,” declared Jamel Debbouze on social media. Gad Elmaleh, for his part, launched an appeal for donations on BFMTV on Saturday night. Comedian Booder assured that he “is providing help” along with Jamel Debbouze and Arthur.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located in the province of Al-Haouz, southwest of the tourist city of Marrakech. In addition to the capital, it was felt in Rabat, Casablanca, Agadir and Essaouira, sowing panic among the population.
