Taylor Swift and Shakira crowned at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards

Taylor Swift took home nine trophies out of eleven nominations, while Shakira received one of the most prestigious awards of the night.

American megastar Taylor Swift and Colombian artist Shakira emerged Tuesday night near New York as the big winners of the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards.

Nigerian Rema won the award for best afrobeats video, a new category, for his single Take it easy with Selena Gomez. The song surpassed one billion streams on Spotify over the weekend. “It means a lot to see Afrobeats grow so much,” Rema said when accepting the award.
