Keanu Reeves is one of those movie stars that everyone seems to love. He is also one of the biggest names in Hollywood who hasn’t joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet. Kevin Feige has said he met Keanu before to talk about a role in the franchise, several times in fact, but nothing has come of it so far. Rumors emerge from time to time about Keanu finally joining the MCU, with even people within Marvel theorising who might be playing Reeves. The question is, however, if he joins any of the upcoming Marvel movies, what role would he be best suited for?
Experienced Reddit fans have toyed with this question, coming up with their own thoughts on where Keanu Reeves might appear if he were described as a character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe today. At this point, many of the main Marvel characters have already been hinted at, but there are still some notable characters that fans would like to see play Reeves. Silver Surfer is a popular choice and with a Fantastic Four film at the beginning of production, is a character that we have seen very well.
Another option that seems to appeal to people on Reddit is Ghost Rider. The character has already appeared in wonderful agents of the SHIELD. TV series, which was once considered an MCU canon, but it seems that this is no longer the case. If so, the character is open and seeing Keanu Reeves play a Hell Avenger on a motorcycle definitely looks like it could work really well.
Another popular choice for Reeves in the MCU among Reddit fans is a lesser known character called Beyonder. In Marvel Comics, the Beyonder triggers the crossover event called Secret Wars. Since we know a Avengers: Secret Wars the film is planned, that makes sense. Although the MCU version of the secret wars it does not unfold exactly like in the comics, the Beyonder may still appear to some extent.
A third option voiced by some fans is Guardian, a member of the Canadian superhero team Alpha Flight. On the one hand, seeing Alpha Flight in the MCU seems like a terribly deep cut, but if Marvel Studios were successful with Guardians of the Galaxy, they could probably make Alpha Flight work. The team also has a connection with Wolverine, another character Reeves has played in the past. So, according to the long-term plans for this character, outside of the return of Hugh Jackman Dead pool 3there might be something there.
If you look at Marvel movies in order, it becomes a who’s who of the biggest names in Hollywood. Keanu Reeves is almost evident in the absence of him. At this point, we don’t really know if we’ll ever see Keanu Reeves in the MCU. If we do, regardless of the role, there will be a lot of happy fans. The only downside to Keanu appearing in a Marvel movie will be that no one can theorize anymore which role he will play.
