This Wednesday at 2 p.m. King Charles and Queen Camilla will step onto the Orly runway. According to a statement from Matignon, Prime Minister Elizabeth Borne will come to welcome them.
Unlike his mother, Queen Elizabeth, who on her last state visit traveled by Eurostar and therefore arrived at the Gare du Nord, the king preferred the plane for this first state visit as king.
The King and Queen will then meet with the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, and his wife at the Arc de Triomphe, at 2:40 p.m. They will rekindle the flame at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, before heading to the Elysee Palace, where they will receive official gifts.
Strong symbolic commitments
With this state visit, which was going to be the first and which was to take place in March, but was postponed, the king will intensify strong symbolic commitments and meetings with actors from French civil society.
The two heads of state will also address issues that interest them, such as the environment, the promotion of reading or youth entrepreneurship.
