Meeting in times of crisis. Jennifer Garner, star ofAlso know as, participated on Monday in a demonstration of striking actors and scriptwriters. There she met Merrin Dungey, with whom she starred in this successful JJ Abrams series broadcast from 2001 to 2006.
The two actresses published a photo of their reunion, each dressed in a t-shirt with the image of Sag-Aftra – the American actors’ union – and making reference to the series that revealed them in the caption.
Also know as followed Sydney Bristow (Jennifer Garner) in her double life as a spy. Merrin Dungey played her best friend Francie before lending her traits to a double of the latter who took her place. It was while she was having ice cream at the cafeteria when Jennifer Garner’s character discovered this identity theft.
“We drank coffee, but we didn’t eat coffee ice cream!” Jennifer Garner wrote on Instagram. “If you know it, you know it.”
“I was glad I came out and that we were fighting for what’s right and not against each other,” Merrin Dungey wrote in the caption of the same photo.
Four months of strike
Hollywood’s writers’ union, the Writers Guild of America, launched a strike in early May to demand better compensation for big studios and the establishment of safeguards against the development of AI. The actors joined the movement in July under the banner of their own union, Sag-Aftra, with similar demands.
Negotiations between the striking screenwriters and the studios, grouped under the auspices of the Alliance of Film and Television Producers (AMPTP), will resume this week. They have been unemployed for a month.
