Bruce Willis’ wife testifies: ‘hard to know’ if he is aware of what is happening to him

The wife of Bruce Willis, who suffers from frontotemporal dementia, gave news of the actor this Monday.

Bruce Willis’ wife, Emma Heming Willis, gave an update Monday on the Today show about the actor’s health.

“What I’m learning is that dementia is difficult,” Emma Heming first explained. “It’s hard for the person diagnosed. It’s hard for the family, too. And it’s no different for Bruce, or me, or our daughters.”

It is “difficult to know” if the actor is aware of what is happening to him and his condition, his wife also stressed, responding to a question from journalist Hoda Kotb.

Bruce Willis’ family announced last February about the star’s illness.

Neurodegenerative disease

“Unfortunately, communication difficulties are just a symptom of the illness Bruce is facing,” the family explained on social media, saying they were “relieved to finally have a clear diagnosis.”

Frontotemporal degeneration (FTD) is a neurodegenerative disease, related to Alzheimer’s disease. People with FTD may have memory problems, behavioral changes, or even difficulty speaking or moving.

Emma Heming, today very involved in raising awareness about dementia, documents her fight a lot on social networks.

“I think it was both a blessing and a curse. [de savoir de quoi souffre Bruce Willis]. It doesn’t make it any less painful, but accepting and knowing what Bruce is going through makes it a little easier.

“As Bruce’s condition progresses, we hope the media will focus on highlighting this disease, which requires much more awareness and research,” people close to Bruce Willis said in FEBRUARY.
