Continuing the celebration of its 60th anniversary, the stories of the James Bond movie and their acronyms continue to generate great conversations. This is especially true in cases where the topic is those 007 songs that almost happened, but never happened. Even if we compare them with the most famous stories about it bond issues rejected knowing that Frank Sinatra could have sung two different voices in the James Bond canon is still quite surprising.
In my interview with director Mat Whitecross on behalf of his documentary The sound of 007 debuted in first video , there was no shortage of stories that unfortunately did not make it to the final film. We can all thank the research and interview talents who went into creating this document for this wealthy embarrassment. Whitecross told Gossipify that even with his knowledge base of James Bond music, there were still some surprises:
I started thinking I knew a lot, but there were actually a lot of things I didn’t know. I didn’t know that Monty Norman took the essential elements of the Bond theme from a Bollywood musical that never saw the light of day. I didn’t know Frank Sinatra was almost very close, because he was friends with Cubby, for making You Only Live Twice and Moonraker. I didn’t know Johnny Cash originally wrote Thunderball. It was basically part of the movie, and then we had to cut it because we couldn’t afford it. There are all kinds of things. You don’t spend 60 years writing music for these great movies without some great stories coming out.
The story of Frank Sinatra who almost sings the title track of the fifth round The 007 era of Sean Connery themed melodies has already done the trick. Apparently, while the famous singer lost the opportunity to do you only Live Twice his, Sinatra wanted his daughter Nancy to give the concert . The story of his struggle with this concert is told The sound of 007and the result was such intense nervousness that the song had to be reconstructed on 25 different recordings.
However, what appears to be the new piece of the puzzle is Mat Whitecross’s revelation that Frank Sinatra is once again being courted by Albert Broccoli. This second question would come up during the Roger Moore era of 007, in the name of 1979. moon rake. While the versions of the songs we finally got are most likely different from the ones Frank would collaborate on, Shirley Bassey’s last song for this space Bond movie seems to fit in perfectly with Sintatra’s style. .
This hypothetical scenario only opens the door to the question of whether or not Sinatra’s musical styles would fit the musical mold we expect from the James Bond legacy. While we’ll never get the answer, this is definitely another “what if” loyal fans will have to ponder for a while.
As far as we know, the story of Frank Sinatra’s confrontations with 007 is among the tons of content that has been omitted or cut from the Mat Whitecross documentary. Since you have been given the directive to keep the final product at the 90 minute mark, there are a lot of interesting details that The sound of 007 could not include. That said, Whitecross wasn’t shy about sharing those kind of tidbits, as well as his hopes of potentially releasing a longer cut in the future.
