Rob Schneider is not afraid to share his candid views Live Saturday night, and those he worked with and saw on the show. After explaining the when you thought the show was “over” a few months ago, now he talks about how he thinks Bill Murray “hated” the 90s SNL actors, most notably Chris Farley.
For a bit of history, Murray starred in the first seasons of Saturday Night Live, from 1977 to 1980, alongside comedians such as Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, and Gilda Radner. Schneider arrived from 1990 to 1994 and has worked with Adam Sandler, Chris Farley and many others. According to THR Murray made two appearances SNL in the 90s and hosted the show in 1994. While Schneider was interviewed on The Jim Norton and Sam Roberts show He talked about his experience working with Murray, and it seems like it wasn’t a good experience.
You don’t know which Bill Murray you’ll get. Well done Bill Murray, you’ll get tough Bill Murray, you know? He is super nice to the fans. He hasn’t been very nice to us. He hated us on Saturday Night Live when he was hosting. He absolutely hated us, I mean furious.
Schneider went on to explain that one cast member Murray really hated was Chris Farley.
He hated Chris Farley passionately. I was boiling looking at it. And I think, I don’t know exactly, but I want to believe it’s because Chris thought it was cool to be, you know, like Belushi. You know, his friend that he saw die, how great it was to be so out of control. This is my interpretation. But I really don’t know. I only believe in it 50%. He just hated us a little.
What Schneider is referring to here is the confrontation between Belushi and Farley. It is well known that the comedian known for Lad I really admired the guy behind the Blue’s brothers, and both died from drug overdoses at the age of 33. The comedian speculated that since Murray was friends with Belushi, it was probably hard to be with Farley, who was so similar. Importantly, Schnider said he only believed it about 50%, but doubled down on the fact that he thought Muarry really hated the 90s cast.
He also said Murray didn’t like Adam Sandler either. The comedian said: “the least bit of hatred was for me”. Schneider said he was “happy” with that because Murray was his “hero”. When the interviewer asked how Schneider knew Murray hated them, he said there was energy in him and he could see the “naked anger”. He said he couldn’t identify why he thought that ghost hunters the actor hated them, said he “just didn’t measure up” with them.
Along with these claims about Murray, Schneider explained that he thought SNL It ended after watching a skit in which Kate McKinnon sang Hillary Clinton’s “Hallelujah”. Subsequently, many alumni of the program have spoken out against the claim; noted Al Franken that people said the show was going to end by its first season, so what Schneider said was “silly”. Alec Baldwin, who played Donald Trump SNL for most of his presidency, also answered to the claim of the actor of the 90s with sarcastic words.
SNL The long story is filled with many comedians and I imagine that with each generation there are differences in how they work and what they think is funny. While Schneider talked about the show and the people he worked with, Live Saturday night remained a fixed point Autumn television program and just started Season 48 .
