Olivia Wilde has been an outspoken supporter of the “Free the Nipple” movement on magazine covers and in interviews. However, she really put her money where her lips are at the Academy Museum’s 2nd Annual Gala over the weekend, where she dazzled with a sheer silver dress. Her heavily photographed moment came a few weeks after his don’t worry honey Co-star Florence Pugh sadly applauded the trolls for sporting an equally pure Valentino look.
Arriving at the gala at the Academy of Motion Picture Museum on October 15, Olivia Wilde wore a sheer, shimmering silver dress that caught the light. The bottom of her dress was trimmed with a pink feather trim. It was designed by Alexandre Vauthier, who accessorized her look with a set of heart emojis on Instagram. You can see her look that she made her head spin, below.
The dress was fitted and accented with simple earrings. You can also see it from the side view.

Mat moment came right after, Elle pulled out a Wilde blanket that looked charming and apparently supported the move on the blanket. In 2021, Wilde also talked about #freethenipple, noting at the time that he thought part of the problem was the culture we live in. She said as part of a longer interview with Mode:
It is culturally specific because obviously in other countries there is less fear of the nipple. I think we can all really benefit from making sure we don’t allow the stigma of women’s bodies to infect our view of ourselves. If we have the opportunity to celebrate our body, it has an effect.
Meanwhile, he followed in his footsteps don’t worry honey co-star Florence Pugh (yes, she from the alleged feud). Previously, Pugh was even more open about her feelings about her nipples and her ability to feel comfortable when and how she wants her, noting after Valentino’s show that she raised more awareness:
It has always been my mission in this industry to say “fuck and fuck” whenever someone expects my body to turn into an opinion about what is sexy or sexually attractive.
Florence Pugh went on to share how “alarming” it was that so many people had hateful thoughts about her Valentino dress.
It didn’t stop her though. Ms. Pugh followed #freethenipple with more dresses, including a second issue of Valentino at Paris Fashion Week. Other celebrities sported the nude dress and other similar sheer looks, or sported sheer figures in Megan Fox-style underwear at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards. It seems to be a red carpet trend, which may have some resistance.
