The black Panther The sequel is a few weeks away from its release date, so Kevin Feige has been promoting the film with the cast. The conversation turned to awards season where it was discussed which superhero movie could win an Oscar. After losing the top prize last time around, Feige wasn’t sure the sequel would get the love of AMPAS at the time of the nomination. In his words:
I’m not one to predict what the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will do with your precious grades. I do not know. I know Ryan and the whole team approached this movie the same way they approached the first one, which was: how do we create the best possible audience experience? And how do you create the best experience that people will want to repeat over and over again? It was the main motivation. And something that is an incredible tribute to Chadwick’s legacy. This follows a fine line of homage to real life as it continues the fictional narrative and hope and, I keep coming back to that word, the optimism that Wakanda always represents.
black Panther Losing the Oscar for Best Picture made Feige embarrassed by the possibilities of the Oscar sequel. You’ve already talked about the MCU’s struggle to get Oscar nominations. Even if the Oscars don’t knock on the door, Black Panther: Wakanda forever is bound to be a big win for Marvel. The sequel will be released in theaters on November 11th. The film marks the end of Phase Four, as upcoming Marvel films will feature Phase Five, starting with Ant-Man and the Vespa: Quantumania in theaters February 17, 2023.
