Queen consort Camilla is particularly involved in the fight against osteoporosis, a disease that affects her directly. Her mother and her grandmother died of osteoporosis. She thus pronounced it in a press release, on the occasion of the world day against osteoporosis.
“My grandmother and my mother both died of osteoporosis. At the time, the disease was rarely discussed, rarely diagnosed, and generally recognized as an inevitable part of aging,” she notes.
Available Treatments
Camilla, who founded the Royal Osteoporosis Society in 2019, encouraged older people to get tested.
“Fortunately, we now know much more about the causes, symptoms and available treatments,” the queen consort continued in her statement.
Osteoporosis, characterized by brittle bones, affects more women than men. This disease, which mainly affects older people, decreases bone mass and increases the risk of fractures.
