Max Thieriot, known for his work on team of seals Yes motelHe is now working on a program that is extremely close to him. The actor isn’t just the star of one of CBS’s latest dramas in the TV program 2022 , land of fire, but he is also the creator of the series, as well as writer and producer. The reason he’s so close to the story is that he’s based on the city he grew up in, the firefighters who help protect the community and put out fires in Northern California, one of which inspired him to create. the show.
In a recent interview with Petaluma Argus-Post Thieriot recalled the story of a bushfire in 2017 and how it inspired his new show. On October 9, 2017, a fire broke out in Sonoma County, his family urged the actor to head north from Los Angeles to help fight the blaze. He said:
My mom, sister and brother live in Occidental and my mom would call me in the middle of the night to get into a truck and come from Los Angeles and help load horse trailers and move animals and livestock around the county. and collect animals.
The Tubbs and Nuns Fire was close to the actor’s hometown, Occidental. According to The Democrat of the Press , the Tubbs fire killed 40 people and killed more than 6,000 homes and affected Sonoma, Napa and Mendocino counties. The nun fire was the North Bay firestorm that raged for days, taking firefighters for nearly a month to contain it.
Thieriot recalled what he was like when he returned to Occidental, saying:
It was chaos. It was so surreal and incredible that this fire spread to where it was. People simply couldn’t imagine this happening. And after it was all over, I was driving, and it was hard to see … all of Mark West, and then go by and see (the Cardinal) Newman (High School) and Coffey Park. My God, the devastation.
We always have one thing known for land of fire is that Thieriot brought his personal experience to the show. This can be seen in the way firefighters deal with fires and the people affected by them in each episode. According to showrunner Tia Napolitano, Thieriot has helped keep the stories told by the series authentic. She said:
There are so many small town stories, so many Northern California stories, so many firefighter stories. We don’t just invent the authenticity it brings to the table, both in costumes and in music. We really transport the audience to a small town in Northern California.
Thieriot also said he contacted firefighters he knew in Sonoma County and said the “consensus” was that they were “very excited” about the show.
The other piece of the real-life show is a show for inmates who choose to go to the fire camp to help them get from prison to society. Some of the people in the land of fire problem including Thieriot, embody the characters who are part of this show.
