While we know that Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy often didn’t get along at Hogwarts, how did things go for the actors who portrayed them? Well, Tom Felton recently shared that he considers Daniel Radcliffe the Harry Potter movie a “brother” in real life. The actor also shared what it was like to work alongside his co-star on set and explained why he admired Radcliffe.
Tom Felton reflected on his experience in his iconic role in the film, such as his memoir, Beyond the wand: the magic and chaos of growing up as a wizardhit the shelves. The actor said this about his current relationship status with Daniel Radcliffe:
I mean, I really like this man. I don’t see it as much as I would like, it’s the same for all of us, really. But I consider him a brother, definitely. Great respect for him.
During an interview in CBS matinee the star shared that she doesn’t see Daniel Radcliffe as much as she would like, like the rest of her Potter cast, but will always respect her co-star. Continuing, the Malfoy actor talked about how his friend behaved on set:
Daniel brings a certain energy to every room he is in. But for me it was important, looking back, how important their enthusiasm and eventual professionalism was, if you like. I think I could have easily gone through many of those years. And it seemed to me, on set with him, that he was always ready to bring everything he could to the table, always in collaboration. And I think he learned it the same way I learned it: from the other guys around us.
It’s true. Daniel Radcliffe found incredible fame at a young age after playing the role of Harry Potter. The I could he went to the set but, as Tom Felton said, Radcliffe was thrilled to play the part, collaborated with the other actors and turned pro on the film’s sets. Potter movies and more. It’s a huge compliment from his co-star, who probably knows him better than most from their time together.
Definitely the lost city The star helped set the tone for other actors as beloved movie stars, and clearly canceled Tom Felton. Additionally, Felton remains close friends with many other cast members of the franchise, including Emma Watson, to whom he tells encouraged him to tell his story “The whole story”, through his memories.
It’s inside beyond the wandThe 35-year-old actor can’t stop talking about the struggles he has faced throughout his life, including cope with drug addiction and enroll in rehabilitation . Daniel Radcliffe once talked about coping with alcoholism among his own Harry Potter fame, and has been sober since 2010.
Given the very unique upbringing of the cast of Potter together, you’d imagine they would need each other’s kinship to handle everything, and their ongoing relationship was awesome to watch. The stars reunited warmly last year for the film’s 20th anniversary (which can be seen with a HBO subscription Max ). The group clearly remains united, for good as well as for less good. For example, they also showed their support following the recent passing of Robbie Coltrane, who played Rubeus Hagrid in all eight films. Tom Felton shared a sweet quote from Coltrane as he marked the demise of his former co-star.
Even though Harry and Draco were often enemies, it’s nice to know that Daniel Radcliffe and Tom Felton are like brothers today. Hopefully, the two stars have some time to catch up in the near future.
