“Something extra”: the Artus film team will take the steps to the Cannes Festival

Artus’ comedy, which is causing panic at the French box office, will be celebrated at the next Cannes Film Festival. His team, made up partly of disabled people, will walk the red carpet.

“They will arrive as stars, it is the greatest gift we can give them,” Artus told the newspaper, whose film has already attracted more than a million viewers in one week.

The film should “change the public’s view of difference and reduce the number of people who may mock or despise people with disabilities,” Stanislas Carmont, one of the film’s actors, also told Le Parisien.

A sequel soon?

A sequel “is not excluded,” Artus also points out. “But we really need to find the right idea,” he adds. “I won’t have to worry about (financing) the second or even the third film. But this success will put enormous pressure on me.”

Inside something extra, a runaway father and son find refuge at a summer camp for disabled adults. They pose as a resident and their specialized educator. A stay that will change them forever.

This film was born from its director’s fascination with the eighth day (1996) features a dozen amateur actors with disabilities who act alongside professional actors such as Clovis Cornillac and Alice Belaïdi.
