Many Eurovision fans have a stubborn belief: the order in which the candidates appear on the night of the grand final can influence the outcome of the voting. And the 2024 edition, which will take place this Saturday afternoon, May 11, in Malmö, Sweden, could benefit France, if we pay attention to the superstitions.
The chronology of the performances was known during the night from Thursday to Friday, a few hours after the end of the second semi-final. Slimane, who defends the tricolor flag with the title My lovewill be the penultimate of 26 artists and groups to perform.
Following the exclusion of the Netherlands from the competition this Saturday following an incident with candidate Joost Klein, the order of participation has not changed. Each candidate keeps his number. If France continues to be associated with number 25, it will move to twenty-fourth. Find the full running order below:

The exact time of passage of each candidate is not communicated. Indeed, viewers who want to watch Slimane’s performance on France 2 will have to plan extensively.
Eurovision is a four-hour show: it will begin at 9:00 p.m. and end shortly after 1:00 a.m. Assuming that the distribution of points – by the professional juries and the public – takes up the last hour of the show, it is better to be in front of the television from 11 p.m. so as not to miss the appearance of the French candidate.
The second part of the evening, the long-awaited grail
Every year, all participants randomly draw whether they will perform in the first or second part of the evening. It is then the organizers who decide the order of appearance within each part, to offer a varied show, avoiding too similar songs being presented one after another.

The new voting system could also undermine this theory. In previous editions, it was open to spectators after the performances had ended, potentially favoring the last passages. In any case, Slimane attracts the favor of the bettors. after months of a vigorous campaign, during which the singer performed his song in several European countries, the betting houses predict a very good fifth place for him. Much better than La Zarra’s 16th place last year, but a little far from the great favorite of this competition, the Croatian Baby Lasagna, and its song Tim Tagi Dim Rim.
