Israel-Hamas War: Shaka Ponk launches “All eyes on Gaza” initiative with Unicef

The French group relies on Unicef to help the victims of the conflict between Israel and Hamas. Zazie, Bruno Solo and Béatrice Dalle gave them their support.

Shaka Ponk musicians are committed to the Palestinian cause. The French group, which is currently on its last tour before disbanding, has launched a collection of donations “to support Unicef actions in favor of the children of Gaza”, victims of the war between Israel and Hamas. Nearly 200,000 euros have already been raised, in addition to the support of numerous personalities.

This initiative, called “All eyes on Gaza”, presents its three demands on its official website: collecting “humanitarian and solidarity aid for children”, an “immediate ceasefire” and “the release of Israeli hostages” .

“Let everyone be aware of the tragedy”

As a press release distributed by Le Parisien explains, “All Eyes on Gaza” aims to “mobilize the artistic world and the general public to help affected children and raise funds to benefit Unicef”:

“Our goal is to make everyone aware of the drama currently unfolding in Gaza and call for a ceasefire, as well as the release of all hostages,” said Frah, the group’s singer, in the same statement.

“But it is not enough to say it, because only by taking concrete measures will we be able to help these children,” he continues. Thus, according to the official website of the prize fund, the group itself launched the donations by paying 100,000 euros. Since then, an additional 92,455 euros have been raised. A sum that will be used to support Gaza by covering “vital needs such as water, hygiene, health, nutrition, mental health and protection, in order to alleviate the suffering of children and their families.”

Support from many artists.

A list of artists committed to Shaka Ponk appears on the site: Nagui, Zazie, Béatrice Dalle, Bruno Solo, Rachida Brakni, Ayo, Suzane, Ibrahim Maalouf, Zaz and even Joey Starr.

War has devastated the Middle East since October 7, when the Palestinian group Hamas entered Israeli territory to commit a massacre in which 1,170 people died. That day, 240 hostages were taken to Gaza, and about 130 remain prisoners there.

Since then, Israel has launched ultra-deadly retaliations in Gaza. This response left more than 34,000 dead, according to figures from the Hamas Ministry of Health.
