Monarch he delivered many revelations on “About Last Night”, but only one of them left me wanting more by the end of the episode. Viewers got to see their first meeting as father and daughter, and I can’t help but be a little disappointed with how it all turned out.
I’m not as disappointed as I was Kayla Yes Luca successfully hiding their illicit relationship from Gigi, but I’m still disappointed. Let’s break down what happened in the scene and why I felt there should be more.
How Albie knew Catt was her son
Albie entered this episode with the information that cracked she killed her lover Rose in a barn that burned down decades ago, but had a daughter somewhere in the world. Albie recognized Rosa’s necklace around Ava’s neck and immediately made two and two that Catt is the daughter she had with Rosa many years ago.
Later in the episode, Albie meets Catt in a restaurant and confirms her suspicions. He also confirmed that Rosa was indeed dead as expected after making a nonchalant comment about never having known Rosa as Albie. After some embarrassment, Catt finally revealed what she wanted from him and the Roman family. Catt explained that she wanted nothing more than her support for Ava’s musical career.
Since Ava had signed as an artist for the music label before all of this, it wasn’t difficult for Albie to accept this request. Monarch It was later shown that Albie gave Ava some time in the studio and even took time off his schedule to record a song with her. We don’t know if it was for Ava’s studio album or Albie’s next album, but Catt seemed happy nonetheless.
Why did I expect more from the episode?
For weeks we have been listening to Catt tell Ava that the Roman family will get what they deserve. Hell, even in last week’s episode, we saw how the whole family openly hated her and seemed determined to harm them. Then we have this big revelation, only Catt is asking absolutely nothing but her daughter to get a record deal that she may have gotten at a later date anyway.
Monarch turned Catt into a great antagonist and it seemed like he had a big plan to bring this family to its knees. In fact, the Roman family seems pretty good at getting into trouble, especially when they would rather kill someone to call the police. Meanwhile, all Albie did after their conversation was give Ava some studio time and she’s thrilled.
Is this possible Monarch save Catt’s big storyline for a future episode, but the way this episode unfolded was weird. I hope we will see her conspire in the future because Marthe Higareda he’s great as Catt, and maybe one of the the best in this cast when it shows the less serene side of the character.
