King Charles III, currently undergoing treatment for cancer, will participate in the military parade celebrating his birthday in June aboard a carriage and not on horseback as last year, the PA news agency reported on Thursday.
HE sovereign He will celebrate his 76th birthday on November 14, but tradition dictates that a public ceremony be organized in June, with a military parade and an appearance by the royal family on the balcony.
For his first Trooping the Color ceremony last year, Charles III paraded on horseback, as did his sister Anne, brother Edward and son William, the heir to the throne.
Resumption of public activities
The king, who resumed his public activities at the end of April following the announcement of his – unspecified – cancer in early February, will take part in the carriage event on June 15, PA reported.
Queen Elizabeth II stopped riding horses in 1986 and participated in this carriage parade in subsequent years, until her death in 2022.
The participation or not of Princess Kate, who also suffers from cancer, has not been specified. She but she will not participate in the review of troops on June 8.
Charles in France
Charles III and Queen Camilla will travel to France on June 6 for celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings.
The King and Queen will also host Emperor Naruhito of Japan and his wife, Empress Masako, in June for a state visit at the invitation of the British government.
