“Moana 2”: the trailer for the sequel to the Disney film breaks the viewing record in 24 hours

With 178 million views on all platforms in just 24 hours, the trailer for the second part of the hit Disney film marks the best start in the studio’s history.

A long-awaited second part. Eight years after the release of Moana: The Legend of the End of the WorldThe trailer for the sequel to Disney’s hit 2016 film has broken a viewing record.

Revealed on Wednesday, May 29, these first images have been viewed more than 178 million times across all platforms combined. This trailer thus becomes the most viewed trailer in less than 24 hours in the history of the Disney and Pixar studios.

The previous record was held by the trailer for Vice versa 2with 157 million views, followed by frozen 2with 116 million visits.

Dwayne Johnson’s return and live-action remake

In this sequel, Moana receives an unexpected call from her ancestors and decides to embark on “a journey that will take her to the dangerous waters of the confines of the ocean seas to live an adventure like she has never experienced before,” indicates the official synopsis.

For this second part, scheduled in French theaters on November 27, Dwayne Johnsonwho voiced the demigod Maui in the original version, will return to his role.

First moana will, for its part, be the subject of a live action remake. Dwayne Johnson will also play the demigod Maui. “We are only in the early stages of the project and there is still a lot of work to do,” he said in April 2023.
