“I want to believe in peace, I don’t want to die of hate.” On Sunday, June 2, Slimane published on his Instagram account the excerpt of a new song in which he calls for peace and love.
Without explicitly mentioning the war between Israel and Hamas, the singer calls for dialogue.
“We should talk to each other to understand our sorrows,” Slimane sings. “I’m sorry, I’m in a lot of pain, I can’t stay silent anymore. And I know you’re hurting too, so what do we do brother?”
And the artist continues in English: “And peace? And freedom? What about love for all the children in this crazy world?” This is not the first time Slimane has called for peace with a song.
During the last Eurovision rehearsal, on May 11, the singer stated: “When I was a child I dreamed of music, I dreamed of being a singer and singing about peace. We need to be united by music, yes, but in love and peace “
Slimane added this verse to the a capella passage of his piece. My lovewhich allowed him to take fourth place in Eurovision this year.
Slimane did not then detail the reasons for this message, reports the Huffington Post. When a journalist asked him if this message was addressed “to Israeli viewers,” he refused to answer.
