“I could have died”: Jeane Manson speaks out a month after his heart attack

The American singer, victim of a heart attack after a hearing in the trial between her and Coline Berry-Rojtman, gives reassuring news.

A month after his heart attack, Jeane Manson speaks out. The American singer speaks to La Dépêche this Wednesday, June 5, for the first time since her hospitalization in Lyon last May, following an appeal hearing in the defamation case between her and the daughter of actor Richard Berry, Coline Berry. Rojtman.

“I’m fine. “I am resting,” she says. “He had broken heart syndrome, ‘takotsubo’ as they say in Japanese, acute heart failure that occurs after an emotional shock.”

The singer, who visits Toulouse to defend the cause of animals at the L’Arche de Noé shelter, in Soly-Ange, continues: “He could have died if the help had not been so quick. For the moment, there has been no no intervention.” planned but I am very well cared for. “I thank everyone who has heard from me and also the excellent intensive care service at the Saint-Joseph hospital in Lyon.”

“The lies of which I am a victim”

“I also decided that health is better than the stress of the lies I am subjected to,” she continues. An obvious allusion to the dispute between him and Coline Berry-Rojtman.

In an article published by Le Monde in February 2021, she spoke about the sexual violence she suffered as a minor in 1984 and 1985 at the home of her father, who was then living with Jeane Manson, accused of having participated in these attacks.

The investigation opened in Paris against the actor accused of incest by his daughter was fired on August 31, 2022 due to limitation. Jeane Manson had decided to sue her former daughter-in-law for defamation before the Aurillac court, in Cantal, where she lives part of the year.

In April 2022, the court convicted Coline Berry-RojtmanBorn in 1976, fined 2,000 euros for defamation. The Court of Appeal of Riom (Puy-de-Dôme) confirmed this sentence in December 2022. But in December 2023, the Court of Cassation canceled this sentence and referred the case to the Lyon Court of Appeal.

It was during this hearing, on May 7, that Jeane Manson hurriedly left the courtroom, visibly very agitated, when her lawyer was going to speak in defense of her claim. The singer was rescued “by firefighters” at the appeals court and then hospitalized “in critical condition,” according to the artist’s agent. The sentence was reserved until July 17.
