Why is Dane Cook joking that Bill Burr is a hypocrite for being in The Mandalorian?

Success in the entertainment industry is a fickle thing. For example, at some point it would have been fair to say that Dane Cook was the greatest comedian in the world. During this time, he sold out at Madison Square Garden, being mentioned in pop culture in show how Danger!, and even Cook also auditioned for Steven Spielberg. After a string of rom-coms that weren’t critically acclaimed, it suffered from overexposure, but continues to perform in front of a large audience and maintains a fairly loyal fan base to this day. Although he became a household name in his early 1930s, other comics from that era were late to the party, including Cook’s old friend Bill Burr.

Burr has appeared twice on the popular Disney + show the Mandalorian, which obviously takes place in Star Wars universe. I caught up with Dane Cook to talk about his new special. mostly, It was then that he told me this story that he recently called Burr to be a “hypocrite”:

Bill Burr and I did something in Boston and we were there a few months ago. And it was very interesting because Bill broke up much later in his career. We started together and he takes a break from his career and we talk about the fact that in 1991, one day, I was constantly talking about Star Wars and he was saying “I hate Star Wars”. And I was like, ‘what?’ And we did and he said he doesn’t like science fiction. He has nothing to do with it. And he broke it. And then, you know, I was with him a few months ago, and I thought, ‘You’re in The Mandalorian! Hypocritical!

It is well known that Bill Burr is not the best Star Wars fanatic, and had even gone as far as in the past criticize the fandom itself. Dane Cook, on the other hand, is a Star Wars superfan If you watch the interview clip at the beginning of this article, you can see a lot of them Star Wars memorabilia in his office, including Darth Vader and Kylo Ren masks. The Mandalorian Creator Jon Favreau didn’t seem to care about Burr’s feelings on the franchise, which ultimately was the right decision, as his character, Migs Mayfeld, created some hilarious moments for the show.

Dane Cook was clearly making fun of his partner, as there was no hard feelings in his comments, and he applauded the comedian’s entrepreneurial spirit:

He says, “I got it because Favreau knew I didn’t like Star Wars.” So he talks, you know, about being able to have long-term relationships and also seeing so many comedians break through. Once I was in my day, it was really cool to see how many stand-ups remained enterprising and put their time and effort into building that fan base.

If you are a fan of Bill Burr, he has a lot of streaming content right now. As for Dane Cook, his new special mostly I just got your live stream moments .
